Research Analyst/Senior Research Analyst

Overview

Fraser Group is a small consulting firm which has been providing market information and research services to the insurance and pension industry since 1989.

As part of a plan to better serve current customers and to expand our product line, we are seeking an individual to work on research and benchmarking projects.

The key attributes we are seeking in this position are:

  • Computer programming skills to support data analysis and client service
  • Adaptability and flexibility. We are a small office and need to respond to changing client needs.

Job Duties

  • Create and maintain statistical and qualitative databases
  • Analyze data and draft client reports
  • Communicate with clients by phone, email and through written reports
  • Consistently pursue the best interests of our clients and protect Fraser Group’s reputation for honesty, reliability and ethical behaviour.

Candidate Requirements

  • Reputation for professionalism and integrity
  • Post-Secondary Degree or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong quantitative skills
    • Proficient in basic computation and algebra, descriptive statistics, ratios and proportions, logic operations
    • Familiar with concepts of probability and statistical inference
  • Computer programming skills
    • Facility with one or more languages such as C#, Java, Python or SQL.
  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to produce clear, factually precise and grammatically correct written materials in English
  • Able to conduct presentations
  • Willingness to pursue the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation
  • An obsession for accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a small organization

 

Useful Attributes

  • Experience in employee benefits, individual life insurance or retirement savings
  • Familiarity with R, SAS or other statistical languages and software
  • Actuarial or accounting training
  • Proficiency in French.

 

Compensation

We expect to offer competitive compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Working Conditions

  • Office work, Monday to Friday, flexible hours
  • Located in Toronto near subway and GO stations
  • Occasional travel may be required

Chief Product Officer

Overview

Fraser Group is a small consulting firm which has been providing market information and research services to the insurance industry since 1989.

As part of a plan to better serve current customers and to expand our product line, we are seeking a Chief Product Officer who will be responsible for managing product development and innovation for the organization.

The key attributes we are seeking in this senior position are:

  • strategic insight into the value that data and analytics provide to our clients
  • the technical skills to create appropriate products for our clients
  • the communication and marketing skills to deliver these products to our clients.

Job Requirements

  • Reputation for professionalism and integrity
  • Post-Secondary Degree or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience
  • In depth knowledge of products, processes and market structure in at least one segment of the insurance/financial services industry, typically acquired by several years in a management or senior technical role
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English
  • General familiarity with statistical concepts and data integrity processes
  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  •  Ability to work effectively in a small organization.A
